Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal. This is region is the most diverse and popular for trekking – domestic and international tourists (trekkers). During the journey, you feel lost in the views of lush, undisturbed natural forests, rivers, snow-capped mountains and ethnic food and cultures.

Your Annapurna Base Camp expedition starts a short drive to Nayapul from Pokhara. You hike, enjoy and rest at different points of your whole journey. You go up the hills, and come down to valleys/gorges and hills/mountains. In initial encounters,  you get a chance to witness traced rice fields, traditional farming, quiet hill/mountain villages, typical rural lifestyles, rhododendron and bamboo forests, and a variety of birds. You feel blessed with innocent smiles of the local people, unwavering warmth and hospitality in the villages, teahouses and restaurants.

As you climb higher, you get to more exciting moments, appealing landscapes to appear and mind-blowing mountain range to erect. For example, on the fifth day of your journey, imagine a golden sun rising just above the Annapurna mountain ranges. Bring that imagination into reality, it’s 100% possible. This is just a part; still, there are many massive and jaw-dropping scenes to come very close as you are looking in the mirror or cinema sitting on the front rows. Stepping at the Annapurna Base Camp, your final destination, you will find yourself standing in the shadow of the great mountains – Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Annapurna South, Macchapuchhre (7,646 m) and Annapurna – I (8,091 m). You feel blessed and happy when you receive a warm welcome at TIA from our representative with a typical Nepali culture – ‘Namaste’ and a bunch of flowers. Then, he/she will drive to your hotel and assist you in check-in. So, look for someone waiting for you holding a placard with your name or our company’s name.

On this day, you just take a rest at Hotel overnight and restore your energy to accomplish your upcoming adventurous trip.

After enjoying a delicate breakfast early in the morning, and prepare for your beautiful journey to Pokhara via a luxury tourist bus. On the way, you enjoy the scenic pastoral landscapes, terrace farming, and rows of settlements on both sides of the road. I guarantee that you will be so happy to see distant mountains, close giant hills, rural villages, fast-flowing rivers (Trishuli, Narayani and Marsyangdi).

If you feel tired of a long bus journey, then you have the option of flying to Kathmandu at an extra cost. The choice is yours.

Finally, you reach Pokhara – the city of lakes and multi-culture. We transfer you to the hotel, freshen up and take a rest. Even you can go for an evening walk around the lakeside city.

At the end of the day, you will receive a short briefing about the trek to Annapurna Base Camp.

Wake up, freshen up and have an early breakfast. Get ready for a long hike today. Your journey starts driving you to Nayapul via Lumle. We hire a jeep and drive you through dusty and off-road. It takes about 90 minutes and you pass through small beautiful traditional villages.

Your actual trekking towards Annapurna Base Camp starts from Nayapul. On the way, discover green hills, unspoiled natural sceneries and bamboo bushes.  We take a short rest at Birethanti and enjoy tea watching natural scenes. Observing trolling waterfalls and lush terraced fields, climbing steep hills, you will ascend through Ranghai. Then, you descend to Tike Dhunga. You spend the whole night there, enjoying local food and hospitality.

Be ready to have a long journey. After warm breakfast, you leave Tikhe Dhunga and the trip to Ghorepani begins. You cross a suspension bridge, walk on the steep stone stairs to reach Ulleri- a beautiful Magar town. You take a short break at the crest of Ulleri hill

You resume your hiking and reach Nangethanti. Enjoy delicious lunch there. Then, you start following the trail, arrive at Ghorepani – a traditional village. Grab your rewards of breathtaking mountain scenery and unpolluted natural environment.

At first, you complete a short hike to Poonhill – a famous hill and observe a majestic sunrise view emerging over the massive Annapurna ranges. You feel lucky to observe the golden sun hanging above the massive White Mountains.

Spending some time there, you come down to the guesthouse, have your delicate breakfast and keep your pace towards Tadapani. Walking along the ridgeline and crossing a pleasant rhododendron, you reach Tadapani –  your final destination for this day.

Leaving Tadapani behind, on this 6th day, you trek towards Chomrong Village. On the route, you cross suspension bridges, walk past the rhododendron forest, and hike along with the crop fields.

In the lush jungles, you luckily can birds of different colours, discover new species of plants and new sights. Enjoying the nature on the route, ultimately you reach Chomrong, where villages sprawl across the hillside with major mountains such as Huinchuli, Machapuchare, Annapurna South towering the town.

Thanking the genuine hospitality of Chomrong, we head towards Dovan. You will climb down 2500 stone steps and cross a suspension bridge over the Chhomrong River. Then, you trek through a rocky trekking route that takes you to Sinuwa village. Further, you continue hiking through the dense forests and reach Kuldahar (2540m). From Kuldahar, you go downhill and stop your feet at Dovan.

Okay, you have spent a happy night at Dovan. Say Goodbye to Dovan, and start your journey to the next point, Deurali. When you follow tranquil, green bamboo forests and rhododendron trees on the route, you feel fresh and energetic to continue your pace.

Then, the forest quickly fades away. You reach see and walk by the Himalayan Hotel, you’ll know you’re getting closer to your destination. Continue climbing past this landmark to Hinku Cave, which was once used as a shelter and overnight stop for historical Annapurna expeditions. Your trek for today settles resting at Deurali.

You find yourself more excited on this day. At the end of this ay, you are reaching the ultimate destination of the whole trek – Annapurna Base Camp Trek.

You most awaiting trip section starts by climbing a riverbed and hiking up to Annapurna Sanctuary. As you continue, the altitudes get much higher. Be careful and don’t rush on the trek. After following Modi Khola trail, you come to the Macchapuchre Base Camp (MBC). Don’t miss the moments. Take a break at Machhapurchhre Base Camp and discover the spectacular beauties of the Himalayas surrounding the areas.

After spending some time at MBC, you start hiking, constantly looking towards Annapurna Base Camp (ABC). With a continuous walk for about 2 hours, you reach Annapurna Base Camp.

Yes! You made it. Capture the giants’ views of the mountains so close to your eyes. Feel the vibes towering from the Annapurna Base Camp, and enjoy impressive peaks of the Annapurna range and its neighboring mountains.

You observe the scenic, marvelous and spectacular beauty of Annapurna ranges early in the morning. Then, we bid bye to the magnificent Annapurna Base Camp and head towards Bamboo – a rural village. Keep your pace slow and mind your feet as we are descending to low altitude.

Following the same trail to base camp, we descend to Modi Khola to reach Bamboo – the rural village. This village is surrounded by mountains, so do not miss capturing the panoramic scenery of the mountains.

Today, you will go downhill to Jhinu Danda Hot spring. You follow the trail to Jhinu Danda down through wooded slopes to Chomrong via Khuldighar.

Be careful! As you descend from Chomrong to Jhinu Danda, the terrain becomes steeper. While dropping, make sure to visit the experimental sheep farm, which shows a glimpse of herder’s life in the mountains of Nepal. Finally, you will reach Jhinu Danda.

From here, if you hike down about half-hour, you will get to a natural hot spring. This is the ideal spot to decompress and let the stress of the day wash over you.

Today, you are concluding your trekking trip to Annapurna Base Camp. You are leaving ranges and their breathtaking views behind. However, you have already captured them in your memory, camera and videos.

You don’t have to in rush. You’ll just be on the path for approximately two hours today, descending at a leisurely pace beside the Modi Khola’s riverbed. Then, you reach Matque. Finally, you will be driven to Pokhara on private transportation.

You have completed your Annapurna Base Camp Expedition. So, feel relax, take a rest and enjoy your time in Pokhara.

Now, this is the time to return to Kathmandu, then your home. Your trek is complete, you’ll return to Kathmandu from Pokhara by tourist bus.

If you feel tired of a long bus journey, then you have the option of flying to Kathmandu at an extra cost. The choice is yours.
