Kathmandu Valley City Tour offers you seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites located in a single valley – it comprises Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur. Known as the city of temples, you observe numerous temples and shrines with many Gods and Goddesses. Because of time constraints, we only visit five UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Early in the morning, after warm breakfast, we pick you up and drive to Swaymbhu – which means ‘self-existence’. At the hilltop, you will find the stupa with Chaityas, statues and shrines of Buddhists and Hindu deities. Spin prayer wheels and view the whole Kathmandu valley from there. Also, you can see the huge gold-plated Vajra (thunderbolt), the sleeping Buddha, the Dewa Dharma Monastery and traditional Tibetan paintings.

Stepping up and going down, you may encounter many monkeys. So, this is also called ‘Monkey Temple’.

After observing Swayambhunath, we drive you to Kathmandu (also called Hanumandhoka/Basantpur) Durbar Square. At Basantapur Durbar Square (the next UNESCO World Heritage Site), you observe intricate wood carvings and know its rich history since it was built during the Licchavi period (4th to 8th centuries AD), and King Pratap Malla extended the property significantly in the 17th century.

With the highest concentration of old structures, the square is home to several palaces, courtyards, and temples. It is also known as “the Museum of Temples” because there are over 50 temples in the square – Taleju Temple, Kumari Temple, Jagannath Temple, Swet Bhairav, Kaal Bhairav and Tribhuvan Museum. Also, you see several Nepali handicrafts.

From Kathmandu Durbar Square, we drive you to Patan Durbar Square (the next UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Lalitpur district – just 5km in distance. Patan is the home for the finest craftsmanship and ancient techniques. You pass through narrow streets, brick houses and multiple small Hindu temples, Buddhist monasteries and monuments.

In the Patan Durbar Square Area, explore Mahabouddha, Rudra Varna Mahavihar, Hiranya Mahavihar, Kumbheswar, Jagat Narayan, Ashok Stupa and Tibetan Camp. Also, you can observe is a showcase of exquisite woodcarvings, and stone and metal sculptures.

We take lunch at Patan.

After having lunch at Patan and taking a rest for some minutes, we drive to Bouddhanath Stupa (the next UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Kathmandu valley).

Bouddhanath is one of the holy places where numerous Buddhists, Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists visit, worship and meditate. Religious places such as Bouddhanath and Swayambhunath have shown a perfect example of religious harmony in Nepal.

On the premises, you can find Buddhist devotees rolling the prayer wheels, chanting the Buddhist hymns. You also feel peace of mind after listening to Buddhist Hymns such as ‘Om mani Padme Hum’ and more. Around the Bouddha Stupa, there are 50 monasteries and traditional Tibetan paintings and handicrafts on the premises.

Today’s final destination is Pashupatinath Temple – the holiest temple for Hindus which is enlisted in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here, you can observe the Nepalese pagoda style with a golden roof and four doors carved with silver. Since the Pashupatinath temple is the main temple of Hindus; non-Hindus are restricted to enter inside this temple. However, you can observe the temple and Hindu devotees from the premises. On the east bank of the Bagmati River, you can capture glimpses of cremation and ceremonial rituals.

Finally, we drive you to your hotel and take a rest.
